What You Will See

The view offers a dramatic, expansive perspective of the Grand Canyon, but its most distinct feature is its elevation: at 7,461 feet (2,275 m), it is the highest developed overlook on the entire South Rim. From this lofty perch, you are treated to a sweeping 270-degree panorama that includes a clear view of the winding Colorado River deep in the canyon and the vast, colorful expanse of the Painted Desert stretching out to the east, far beyond the park boundary. Additionally, its position offers a prime vantage point for viewing the iconic Desert View Watchtower, allowing photographers to frame the canyon's natural beauty with Mary Colter's striking historic architecture.
