What You Will See

This is the last viewpoint on the east end of Grand Canyon South Rim. Your eyes will be drawn immediately to the magnificent Desert View Watchtower, the unique feature that defines this location. From the top of the tower, you gain one of the most comprehensive views of the eastern Grand Canyon, including an excellent look at the point where the Colorado River makes a significant bend, the dramatic expanse of the Painted Desert stretching far into the distance, and the deep, colorful gorge of the Little Colorado River. Beyond the panoramic natural vistas, the viewpoint serves as a cultural hub, as the tower's interior features striking murals by Hopi artist Fred Kabotie, giving you a layered experience of both the canyon's geological grandeur and its rich Native American heritage.
