Hopi Point is celebrated as one of the premier viewpoints along the Grand Canyon's South Rim, offering a magnificent, sweeping vista that extends far to the east and west.

What You Will See

Hopi Point is celebrated as one of the premier viewpoints along the Grand Canyon's South Rim, offering a magnificent, sweeping vista that extends far to the east and west. You would see a breathtaking expanse of the canyon, which includes a clear view of numerous prominent rock formations, often referred to as "temples," such as Shiva Temple, Isis Temple, and Zoroaster Temple. Additionally, Hopi Point offers views of multiple bends of the Colorado River winding through the inner gorge. What is unique about this viewpoint is that it is the furthest point that juts out into the canyon along Hermit Road, which provides an unparalleled 270-degree panoramic view of the canyon's widest sections. This unobstructed position makes it an exceptionally popular and ideal location for watching both the spectacular colors of sunrise and sunset.

Get in a few steps and walk the short distance (0.3 miles or 0.5 kilometers) to the next viewpoint which is Powell Point.

Approximately 9.6 miles from Red Feather Lodge. Allow at least 3-4 hours to see the viewpoints along Hermit Road.

Good to Know Before You Go

Viewpoint is only accessible by shuttle bus, walking or biking from March thru October. Last shuttle typically leaves about 30-60 minutes after sunset. Drive your vehicle to the viewpoint from November - February (weather permitting).
