What You Will See
You’ll be treated to a distinctly open view of the eastern part of the Grand Canyon, encompassing famous rock formations like Zoroaster Temple and Wotan's Throne, and the deep Clear Creek drainage on the North Rim. Looking west, you can trace the incredible and famously steep switchbacks of the South Kaibab Trail as it skirts along O’Neill Butte on its way to Skeleton Point and beyond that, you can see the Plateau Point Trail. What makes this viewpoint unique is its limited accessibility: Yaki Point is permanently closed to private vehicles year-round, meaning it can only be reached by the park’s free shuttle bus (orange route), by foot, or by bicycle. This restriction significantly reduces crowds, allowing for a much more tranquil and reflective experience, particularly for watching the spectacular colors of the sunrise and sunset paint the canyon walls.

Distance & Time from Red Feather Lodge
From Red Feather Lodge drive approximately 7 miles to the National Park Visitor Center and take the orange route shuttle bus directly to Yaki Point and the South Kaibab Trailhead. No access by private vehicles to this viewpoint.
