This annual event takes place in the Kaibab National Forest which surrounds the Town of Tusayan in Northern Arizona. Tusayan is located one mile from the South Rim Entrance to Grand Canyon National Park. The Half Marathon and 5K Fun Run (or walk) is a high elevation race with a starting elevation at 6595 feet, a max elevation at 6729 feet and a gain of 546 ft. Average temperatures ranging from mid-40’s to mid-60’s this time of year should make this trail run ideal.
Pre-race check in is on November 3rd and every participant receives a race shirt, a special souvenir medallion, post-race snacks, discounts to local restaurants & tour activities and a free beer at the end of the race provided by Grand Canyon Brewing.
Prize money will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers, with additional course record awards. Special course record bonuses will go to the man and woman who break the male and female course records. The women’s course record of 1:25:51 was set in 2021 by Shannon Porter from Flagstaff, Arizona. The men’s record of 1:18:33 was also set in 2021 by Jonathan Hiley, who traveled to Grand Canyon from Tequisquipan Quetaro, Mexico.
