The South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is open year-round, and so is Red Feather Lodge
Many people prefer to visit this World Wonder in the winter months as it is a quiet, peaceful time of the year. Our on property restaurant, Plaza Bonita, is open year-round for breakfast lunch and dinner. There are also several other local dining options from fast food to savory local dishes to fine dining.
Snow is common in the winter months but roads are plowed and cleared. Most hiking, walking and biking trails are still open. And, December 1 thru February 28 is the only time of the year private vehicles can drive the Hermits Rest route! And … Red Feather Lodge does not charge any penalty fees if you have to cancel late due to road conditions or weather conditions.
Activities are open year-round, weather permitting. You can enjoy Grand Canyon by air, by foot (hiking trails along the rim and below the rim), or enjoy a guided ground tour in the comfort of a heated vehicle. Visit the Grand Canyon IMAX Theater (within Winter picture and/or after 11/18 Hotel lobby decorated picture walking distance) and see Grand Canyon: The Hidden Secrets on a giant 6-story high screen or visit their Adventure Store for unique gifts.
